My current work builds on the idea of layering and manipulation. There are a multitude of images that I assemble into a “visual dialogue”. As an example: the recognizable silhouettes (photograms) of an assortment of generic people and soldiers are the actors in my commentary about various concerns such as: earth, water, fire, war, seasonal change, the human condition and the environment. I mimic these issues by layering, tearing, painting, burning and adding wax to a collection of my old and new prints that become recycled. These images can be described as having endured a level of “creative violence” resulting in a rich surface patina.
